Hokkaido is OK with Shake-out Drill!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Flood, Typhoon and Earthquake may change Japan’s title from Economic Superpower to Disaster Superpower.
However, Japanese people are accustomed with various natural disasters and well prepare for them. Of course, Hokkaido is no exception.
They held big drill “Hokkaido Shake-out” just one week before the real one came.

It was held on Aug. 31 this year, concerning to “National Disaster Drill Day (Sep.1)”. 160 thousands people have attended to the event. We feel as if the event organizer predicted that real earthquake would come just after the drill. How timely they were! So we guess that total 2.5 million families of Hokkaido people are OK with prepared foods and gears, even after that big earthquake and mass of power cut all over the big island.
Yes, we learned from their activities. Komorie is comparably less disaster area, but we decided to think more about predicting and preparing for the disaster in future.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
経済大国あらため、災害大国、にっぽん。
自然災害に慣れた国民は、いかなる災害にも対処できるよう、日頃から訓練を積み、非常事態にも決してあたふたすることがありません。
今週大規模な地震が起きた北海道でも、直前の8月31日に「北海道シェイクアウト」と銘打った大規模な災害訓練を実施しています。

9月1日の「災害の日」を意識した訓練で、16万人以上が参加したそうです。
今回の地震のちょうど１週間前とは、まるで地震を予知していたかのようなタイムリーな開催で驚かされます。きっと250万世帯の道民はしっかり備え、停電にも決して動じることはなかったことでしょう。自然災害対策には万全・準備万端の日本です。外国人旅行客の皆さんには心配することなく、安心して旅行先として選んでほしいですね。
比較的自然災害の少ない小森江地区ですが、当宿「灯火」でもあらためて備えを確認しておこうと考える今日この頃です。
