Finally I could meet the mascot for this town!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
On Monday, I went to the port town for necessary procedure once every five years, which is not “nonessential and non-urgent”.
As weather was so cool that I stopped at seaside park and had a OBENTO lunch after the procedure.
There were several seagulls flying there and I chased them with my camera. There was a spot on the surface of the sea where many seagulls dived again and again.
As I could see white water around something light brown, so I thought it was a rock. But that rock was moving.
It seemed like SUNAMERI (finless porpoise), the mascot of this town, known as the smallest whale in the world. I could see a group of them. As they chased small fishes, seagulls were waiting for them in the sky.
I have kept hearing that there are wild SUNAMERIs in the sea around this town, but I had never seen them before. Sometimes I heard someone like oyster farmer on his oyster raft or surfer next to me waiting for good wave were shouting “Hey, it is a SUNAMERI there” but I could not see them always.
Finally I could see SUNAMERI, this town’s mascot, after 5 years since I came back to this town! I am thinking that I want to show them to our guests someday after pandemic will be over.

町のマスコットとようやくご対面出来ました！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
週明け月曜日、不要不急でない５年に一度の手続きのために港町に出掛けました。
用事が済んだ後は、陽気に誘われて海辺でお弁当。
カモメの飛ぶさまが爽やかだったのでカメラに収めようとレンズで追うと、海面のある場所に何羽もしきりにダイブしていました。
薄茶色のなにかに波が立っていたので、岩があるのかと思っていたら、その岩が動いています。
どうもこの港町のマスコット「スナメリ」（世界最小のクジラ）のようです。数頭で群れているように見えました。スナメリに追われた小魚が海面に上がってきたのをカモメが空からねらっていたようです。
いるいるとは聞いていたし、カキ筏の上の漁師さんや、波乗りの時などに横で波待ちしてるサーファーが「あ、スナメリ！」って教えてくれたりしたのに自分はいつも見逃していました。
この町に戻ってきて５年目にしてようやく会えた町のマスコット。今度はゲストさんにも見せてあげたいですね。
