This is a continuation of previous post.
About air gateway of Yamaguchi,
the Biggest Unique point is that the nearest train station of international airport is UNSTAFFED station. Ah, how rustic it is!
Yes, it is of course a single‐track railroad.
(There is the stainless steel box on the left hand side of this picture. It is not an automatic turnstile, but just a BOX.)
I don’t hope that the station will be developed with an automatic turnstile, ticketing machine and setting staffs. I just want the station to stay rustic, but convenient for tourists who use it.
I really want foreign tourists to come and use the station and experience with fresh surprise “Wow, how to use this station/train? How rustic it is!” And ride on the local train to come our guesthouse TOUKA in Komorie.
How about following ideas? These are the ideas which makes tourists more convenient, but doesn’t cost so much. These Kaizen will definitely increase number of the airport user.
1. Announce access time correctly to the station
(It should less than 8min once posted at Kusae station.)
2. Link train timetable with plain time table a little more.
(Adjusting existing table + adding minimum train.)
3. Better train-to-train connection at the station w/o climbing stairs.
(Toward to Shimonoseki.)
4. Pave pedestrian path smoothly and extend weather shed a little more.
Above ideas are my suggestion. It is OK not to do any measure, or it will be defeated soon by the newly opened airport by customer satisfaction point of view. It is already focus to get tourist from other prefecture, Hiroshima.

お金はかけずに、粋に！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
山口の空の玄関口へのアクセスについて、前回からの続きです。
この空港、なんといっても一番ユニークなのが、国際空港の最寄り駅なのに「無人駅」だということです、、、あぁ、なんて素朴なんでしょう。
線路はもちろん単線です。
（画像、左手に見えるのが切符回収箱、自動改札機かと勘違いしそうですが「ただの箱」です。蛇足ですが、中央男子用トイレも”してる”ところが客車から丸見え。笑）
自分としては、決して有人化したり、自動改札機を設置して欲しいとは思いません。この素朴さのまま利用者だけ増やして欲しいです。
是非、外国人観光客にこの駅を利用してもらい「一体どうやって切符を買うんだ？」という新鮮な驚きを体験してほしいですね。（そしてそのまま小森江まで来て、灯火に泊まって欲しいっ！）
たとえば、最低限のコストで以下の対応だけしてもらえるだけで、利用者はとても便利になり、空港自体の利用客も確実に増えると思うのですがどうでしょう。
１．駅までのアクセス時間を正確に広報する。
（以前の駅での表示、徒歩８分よりは近いかと）
２．電車のダイヤを飛行機の発着に連動させる。
（既存の微調整 or 多少増便）
３．電車の乗り入れを 乗り換え時に階段を使わなくて済む駅で行う。
（下関方面へ）
４．空港からの歩道をもう少しだけ整備し、屋根のある歩道をもう少しだけ駅まで延ばす。
でなければ、したたかにも他県から利用者を誘致しようとしている４年前に開港したばかりの同一県下の新参空港に顧客満足度で負けてしまう日も遠くないように思います。
