Petit Adventure!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
As it is located at west edge of Kanmon Strait, I have been interested very much. The place, I could visited Tuesday was “AINOSHIMA*” island, overlooking Shirasu lighthouse, which is black and white painted cool lighthouse. The little island, about 13km around, belongs to Kokurakita ward.
(*Quick tip Japanese: Shima/Jima(liaison) means island, isla, insult etc.)
Boarding point is located at a pier, 5min walk from north exit of JR Kokura station. 35min ferry ride takes us to Ainoshima island, via Umashima island.
(3 round trip everyday, 400 JPY/one way, 800 JPY/round trip)
Ferry has pretty powered motor and run fast, passing large container ships and cargo ships. It arrive at 11:05 as scheduled, within tolerance of 5sec. Wow, Amazing Japanese transportation!
On the island, there is relax atmosphere everywhere.
As I wanted to walk around Ainoshima, I started walking toward northwest. Many tourists are taking pictures of island cats. Some cats came to me, but I try not make eye contact with them and left the place.
The “narrow” main island street was covered by green leaves here and there. I walked through those green tunnels.
On the way to north most point, I looked down Shires Lighthouse and explored the bush to the beach in the hidden cove. They were pretty nice adventures.
The Senjoujiki rock beach at the north most point was under the tide this time unfortunately. But standing on fine beach and feeling cool breeze with whole body, I could see Omojiiwa Lighthouse and Kaishima, tiny island with 2 cute beach houses. It was a really refreshing moment.
After walking the island by myself, I can recommend Ainoshima as a good petit adventure of Kanmon. It is quite convenient one day island trip from TOUKA.

プチ・アドベンチャー！
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
関門海峡にあることから、ずっと気になっていて、火曜にようやく行けたのが、白黒二色のお洒落な白洲灯台を望む島「あいのしま」。
周囲約13kmのちいさい島の住所は、なんと小倉北区です。
JR小倉駅北口から徒歩5分の渡船場から市営の定期船に乗り、途中 山口県の馬島経由で、片道35分のプチ船旅。
（一日3往復、片道400円・往復800円）
パワーのある渡船で、大型のコンテナ船や貨物船をバンバン追い越して、予定の11:05に5秒も違わず到着。（スゴい！）
島に降り立つと、なんとものどかな島独特の空気が流れています。
今回は島全体の散策が目的だったので、他の乗客が名物の猫たちに心掴まれている中、近寄ってくる猫たちを横目に、まずは北西に向かって探検開始。
島の中心部を走る道はところどころが緑のトンネルになっていて、そこを歩いて最北部を目指します。
途中、高台から白洲灯台を眺めたり、道をはずれて藪をかき分け、ビーチになった小さな入江を探してみたり、結構なアドベンチャーです。
最北部にある岩磯 千畳敷は満潮のため水没していましたが、爽やかな風が吹く中、きれいな砂浜から小さな貝島や大藻路岩灯標が見えて、とても気持ちいい場所でした。
今回実際に行ってみたことで、オススメできるちょっとした冒険船旅です。「灯火」から ちょうど良い日帰り離島散策だと思います。
