Brand-new Tasty Reasons why I prefer to use this Airport!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

After using several times, I found new merit to use Yamaguchi Ube Airport.

At first, there is a nice “Member’s Lounge” here.

With Free Wifi, we can work here.

There are free soft drinks, and I like to have Uzu Juice. It reminds me JAL’s juice when I fly in my younger days.

Very convenient when we are waiting for train and less people to use.

At last, I could found very fine restaurant on the way to/from the airport recently, when my friend picked me up at the airport.

It is a drive-in, but seems very popular.

Parking lot is full of cars and trucks. As far as I know, this is the most popular drive-in in my life.

The specialty of this drive-in is:

“KAIJIRU (clam soup)”

Full of clams in the soup, and taste perfect!!

As parking lot was free at Yamaguchi Ube Airport, this is another pleasure on the way to/from the Airport.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

山口宇部空港、ここのところ何度か利用していると、新たな魅力を発見します。

まずは使い勝手のよい「ラウンジ」！

このちいさな規模の空港にしてはラウンジがしっかりしています。

フリーWifiもあるので、ちょっとした仕事もできるし、

電車との乗り継ぎ時間の調整にありがたい施設です。

フリードリンクとして提供されるゆずのジュースは昔好きだったJALの機内でしか飲めなかったジュースを思い出させてくれる味で、ちょっと嬉しくなります。

最後に、最近車で迎えに来てもらって分かったのですが、途中素敵なお店があることに気付きました。

ドライブインなんですが、知っている人には超人気のようです。駐車場は車やトラックで溢れていて、自分の知っている中では一番混んでいるドライブインです。

名物は、、、「貝汁」。

これでもか～というぐらいアサリが入っていて、もう絶品！

空港は駐車場がタダなので、車でアクセスする場合の楽しみができました。

A Reason why I don’t use that Airport!

As night flight was focused on the previous post, today I post about airports which I wrote several weeks ago.

There are some reasons why I don’t use nearest Kitakyushu Airport.

The biggest reason is :

Sweet as a souvenir!

They are selling this in Yamaguchi Ube Airport.

I don’t think Kitakyushu also have perfect sweet souvenir. In holiday season, sweets of Hakata were sold in the front line of souvenir shop in Kitakyushu airport and Kokura Shinkansen station.

So I choose “UIROH” of Yamaguchi Pref. for souvenir. Not the one of Nagoya with same name, it has smooth texture and refined sweetness.

Once you eat this, you won’t buy that of Nagoya.

When you have a chance to come Kanmon, please try Yamaguchi’s UIROH. It is available in Shimonoseki, not in Kitakyushu. (I will show you where.)

あの空港を利用しない理由（わけ）！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

昔、深夜０時からのFM番組でMr. Joがナレーションしたような景色を前回の記事にしたところで、今回は数週間前に話題にした空港についての「続き」を話題にしたいと思います。

関門の門司側にいて、自分が最寄りの北九州空港を利用しないのには訳があります。

その最大の理由は、

「お・も・て・な・し」

いや、もとい

「お・み・や・げ」

なぜなら、山口宇部空港にはコレがあるからです。

正直なところ北九州にもスイーツという面ではこれっといったお土産の決め手があるわけではなく、盆正月の北九州空港・小倉駅新幹線乗り場の最前面で売られているのは、“憎き博多”のバター饅頭だったりします。
（↑同じ福岡なのに、北九州 vs 博多は昔っからライバル視してきたのをもじってみました。実は自分もあの饅頭嫌いではないです。）

そこで自分がお土産に選ぶのは、対抗する博多へ塩は送らないように、反対側に位置する親友都市「山口」の「外郎（ういろう）」ということになるわけです。

それもひいきにしているのは、こちらのお店のもの。

東京には売っておらず、繊細な甘さと絶妙な歯ごたえとは上品この上ない逸品です。同じ商品名の名古屋のものはボソボソしていて、山口のものを食べた後はもう二度と食べれなくなります。尾張と長州の品格の違いをみるようです。モチモチしているのにしっとりと舌から喉をゆっくり滑っていくような食感は病みつきになります。

関門にお越しの際は、是非とも少し足を伸ばしてこの「外郎」お試しください。

Breakfast at T!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Today, it may be unusual but let’s talk about Morning.

Yes, Breakfast! “T” in the title is …

Of course, our guesthouse “Touka”!

We know it is hard, but we try to make atmosphere in our guesthouse as that of Hawaii (not incl. Waikiki).

Now we proud our guest room has :

cooler wind than the hotel room in Waikiki without ocean view.

and

more breathtaking moment in twilight than that without sunset view.

Now, we are conscious about FOOD.

Of course, we don’t cook and serve food for our guests,

because TOUKA is typical Japanese small size guesthouse.

But, seeing our guests having food in this dining room, we are thinking about …

“Breakfast”!

The menu is HOT CAKE! (It is not pancake!)

So I cooked a sample menu like this.

How about eating this HOTCAKE, seeing many ships go by!

As we prepare and sell individual package of Hotcake Mix (@100JPY/ea.),

we guess that guests can cook it easily.

Of course, guest can use our pan, oil and others.

There is LAWSON convenience store near by and you can get their popular smoothie together with your hot Hotcake. It is not bad, is it?

So, Breakfast at TOUKA. It is highly recommended Yassan.

“Ｔ” で朝食を！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。おはようございます。

たまには朝に、朝らしい話題を！

ここ（タイトル）でいう “T” とは、、、

もちろん、我が宿「灯火（Touka）」。

日々、ゲストに快適な空間を楽しんでもらおうと試行錯誤しながら運営しています。

目指すは大好きなハワイの（ワイキキ以外の）心地よい雰囲気。

それに少しでも近づきたいと考えていて、、、

ハワイのホテルのアンオーシャンビューのお部屋よりは

〜　ずっと爽やかな風が吹いていて、

ハワイのホテルのサンセットが見えないお部屋よりは

〜　ため息つくような黄昏時を味わっていただけるかなと自負しています。
そんな「灯火」が今、気にしているのはお食事。

もちろんゲストハウスなので調理して提供することはありませんが、

ゲストの多くが施設内で食事されているのを横目で見ながらずっと考えていたのが、、、

「朝食（ブレックファスト）」！

そこで、ハワイを意識して「ホットケーキ」！（パンケーキではありませんよ）

作ってみました。

（シャッター切れる直前にバターがスルリ：笑）

このホットケーキを海を見ながら食す！

「灯火」では個包装のホットケーキ・ミックス（@100 JPY）を準備していますので、

ゲスト自ら調理していただければ、テラスはもうハワイ！（笑）

もちろん器具や調味料は「灯火」で準備しているものを使ってください。

すぐ近くにはローソンもあるので、ローソン・スムージーとともに
焼き立て「ホットケーキ」そして海、、、悪くない朝です。

だ・か・ら、週末は「灯火」で朝食を！
