Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
We really concern about safety for both our guests and ourselves.
There is another Big Risk in Japan. That comes with the Earthquake.
Yes, “TSUNAMI.”
According to our local government, maximum hight of Tsunami (if Nankai Trough Earthquake happens) will be 3.5m(= about 10ft) in Kitakyushu.
It is quite lower than that of East Japan Earthquake, but Tsunami’s power is unbelievable. Even the hight of 3.5m, it is enough to take a lot of people’s lives. And if Tsunami comes against strong tide of straits, hight will be upper than the estimate. (based on my surf theory)

I heard so many times about the power and tragedy of Tsunami during volunteer to support TOHOKU(=East Japan) 2011 & 2012, and bicycle trips to whole SANRIKU Road 2013 & 2014.
We cannot prevent Tsunami from attacking Japan. But we can feel safe in TOUKA, because it stands on the upland of Kanmon area (approx, 35m above sea level, as we mentioned before). We stock enough water and food for sale and they can be the emergent food if Tsunami attacks this area.

There is no perfect preparation but we are pretty equipped for such disaster. We really want our guest to feel safe even with the night Tsunami.

「もう一つの恐怖 〜 3.5mの脅威！」
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
繰り返しますが、安全・安心は「灯火」最大の関心事です。
日本には他にも大きなリスクがあります。 それもそれは地震と伴にやってきます。
そう、津波です。
福岡県によると、南海トラフ地震が起きた場合の北九州を襲う津波の可能性は、最大3.5mということです。 3.5mというと東日本のそれと比較して極めて低いですが、何人もの命を奪うのに十分なエネルギーを持っています。

それにもし津波が海峡の強い潮流に逆らって入ってきたら、その高さは想定を間違いなく上回るでしょう。（宿主個人のサーフ理論＝河口波の津波応用に基づいてます。）

繰り返し訪問した東北支援のボランティアや、2年に分けて走破した三陸海岸チャリンコの旅を通して、津波の起こしたパワーや悲劇を何度も見て・聞いてきました。
非力な人間は津波を止めることはできません。けれども「灯火」にいれば安心だと思います。 既述したとおり「灯火」は海抜35mの高台に立っているし、販売用にストックしている水・食糧はそのまま非常用に転用できるように考慮しています。
自然災害の備えに完璧はありませんが、灯火ではそれなりの準備を整えているので、たとえ夜の津波が来ても、ゲストの皆さんには安心して過ごしていただけると考えています。
