Sunny man?!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

On Sunday, weather had been forecasted as heavy rain with “evacuation advisory”.

However as a matter of fact, it was no rain till 3:30pm in this area, Komorie.

So, our third anniversary event was held without any delay or trouble. People who attended the event enjoyed guests’ fine art and wonderful live music with looking down Kanmon strait and ships running through it.

After event time, everyone enjoyed BBQ which the manager mastered in U.S. with talking and laughing together in the dining room of TOUKA.

晴れ男？！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

日曜日は朝から「避難勧告」が出るかもしれないという予報でしたが、、、

蓋を開けてみると、ここ小森江では3時半頃まで雨はひと降りもしませんでした。

そんなわけで、当宿の三周年記念のイベントは滞りなく開催され、利用されたゲストのアートや、関門海峡とそこを進む船達を眺めながら、素敵なライブミュージックを堪能することができました。

イベント終了後は宿主自慢のアメリカ仕込のBBQを頬張りながら、懇親・談笑に花が咲き、楽しい一日となりました。

蒸し暑い中、こんな急な坂の上まで、歩いて登って来ていただいた皆さんには心より感謝申し上げます。

What I think now!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I did early retirement from company and opened this guesthouse.
Three years has passed since then. And I felt so quick about these three years.

After I experienced 3 years actually and concretely, I cannot get one idea out of my head.

There is 30 years left before the time which I decided to die. 30 years are only 10 times longer than these quick 3 years.

Oh, I got sweat now.

いま思うこと！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

サラリーマンを早期に卒業して、開業。
そこからの三年間はあっという間でした。

三年という時間の感覚を具体的に体感したことでひとつの想いが頭をよぎりました。

自分自身が決めた寿命まであと30年、、、ということは「あっという間」のたった10倍です。

あぁ、、、冷や汗（あぶら汗？）が出てきました。

ひろがる！/ Expanding and Prolonging!

Expanding and Prolonging!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

For three years, since we started this guesthouse on the hill, we have been surprising that only “Good Quality Guests” have stayed in TOUKA.

Such good guests have been changing in this year 2019.
Of course, it is good change for us.

After talking with the guest who is just staying now, we found out he made reservation, because his friend recommended to stay TOUKA. And his friend is one of our precious repeater guest. This is really the chain of good guests.

Furthermore, he is staying here for few days to start living in Kitakyushu for several months.

As a repeating sightseeing tourist, a young man on the Working Holiday program and an exchange student, foreigners visiting this town are changing little by little. And the most pleasant thing for us is that they are utilizing this guesthouse TOUKA for each purpose.

However there is a one big concern. We wonder if the city of Kitakyushu is handling properly this change. We feel that they don’t even know the change.

ひろがる！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

三年間、この坂の上でゲストハウスを続けていて驚くのが、まるで選んだかのように「良いゲストさん」しか「灯火」にはいらっしゃらないということ。

そんなゲストさんが、今年になって少し変化してきました。

もちろん、良い意味の変化です。

話してみて分かったのですが、現在、当宿をご利用中のゲストさんは、リピーターとして当宿を利用されているゲストの友人から勧められて予約をされたそうです。まさに良いゲストの連鎖です。

それも、これから数ヶ月、北九州で生活するにあたっての足がかりの数泊を滞在するために、、、

観光リピーター、数ヶ月働いてみようとする若者、そして留学生、、、北九州にいらっしゃる外国人の目的が少しづつ、けれどしっかり変化しています。うれしいのは、そんなみなさんが「灯火」をうまく利用してくれていること。

ただひとつ気になるのは、北九州側がそうした変化に対応できているかということ、、、もしかしたらこうした変化に気付いてすらいないのではないかと感じられること本当に多いです。
