When we wish upon the moon!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

As we are woking for guests from foreign countries, we have become more sensitive to our Japanese culture than ever before.

Festival, Seasonal Event, now we display HINOMARU (Japanese Flag) on national holidays.

Now we are in the season of:

Craft,

Decorate,

and Wish(Pray).

As we like bigger dream, we wish upon the moon.

It was a fun moon viewing decorating TANABATA display on the break of rainy season.

P.S. I had decorated tiny TANABATA tree, even in the time I grew my child up. However now tree I cut was bigger and my wish on the card is very serious.

月に願いを！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

外国人をおもてなししていると、いまだかつてなかったほど日本文化に敏感になってきます。

お祭りや季節ごとの行事、ひいては祝祭日に日の丸まで掲げてみたり。

で、今はなにかといえば、、、

工作して、

飾って、

願う（祈る）コレっ！

星では夢もちっちゃくなるので、月に向かって願ってみたりして、、、

梅雨の合間の楽しい観月、七夕飾りでした。

それでは、どうぞ夢見る素敵な一日を！

P.S. 子供を育てている時でも、飾ったのはちいさな笹ぐらいでしたが、今は本格的です。短冊に書く願いまで本気モード！

Looking up the sky

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In this time of the year, western people are receiving Christmas cards from friends, relatives and families. They are getting excited each time of receiving card.

On the contrary, the card we are receiving in this time of the year is:
“MOCHU HAGAKI (= mourning postcard)*”

*Japanese custom that a family who has experienced the death of a relative doesn’t send a NENGAJO (= New Year’s greeting postcard), but alternatively the family sends a postcard saying, “We refrain from New Year’s greetings due to the mourning period” within the year.

I am not sure but mourning postcards have been increasing, because o f aging society or my age getting old.

Most of the cards telling me the death of their parents generation. But recently, I start receiving a few cards which telling me that my friends of same generation passed away in this year.

In take-away moon and star service of TOUKA, I am looking up the sky and thinking of the friends who became stars in early stage of their life.

Nowadays, there is less opportunity for me to attend their funerals because the family decided to hold family limited funeral or the location of funeral was too far for me to attend. So I couldn’t meet their family and say sorry for their loss. I wish to meet with them in future and talk together about the friend, watching star in the sky. Of course, I prepare to save the star for them to take away.

上を向いて、、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

欧米ではクリスマスに向かうこの時期、旧友や知人そして家族からクリスマスカードが届き、受け取る度にワクワクするものです。

日本でこの時期なにが郵便で届くかといえば、、、
「喪中はがき」

（英語版では、喪中はがきとは、を解説）

高齢化社会のせいか、あるいは自分が歳をとったせいか、近年喪中はがきの数が増えました。大体が親世代が他界したとの連絡ですが、中には同期・同世代の逝去を知らせるものも混ざるようになってきました。

さて、先に紹介した「灯火」で見る「月や星の持ち帰り」サービス。空を見上げると、ついつい若くして星になった同期・同世代の友のことにも想いを馳せてしまいます。

最近は家族葬が増えたことや遠方での会葬のため、ご家族にご挨拶することも少なくなってきました。できることならここで星を見ながら、星になった友のことなど話せればな、と考えたりします。もちろんその星は「お持ち帰り」いただくつもりです。

星降る夜は、星の降る町で、、、/ Starry Night at Starry Town!

Starry Night at Starry Town!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

We start a new guest service as we announced before.

Let’s enjoy starry night at TOUKA in silent town Komorie.

Cold night is not bad, if we can enjoy like this.

We can watch both moon and stars from everywhere on the earth.

However it depends on at where, with whom, and how we watch whether you can have good memory of them or not.

Please bring wonderful memory, your only moon and stars back your home.

This is the illumination, TOUKA propose this year. They are really modest illumination lights but make you feel quite refreshed.

Also it’s all a matter of luck, whether you can see them or not.
