If you cannot be satisfied with the lights in our port town yet, TOUKA recommend/advise you to see the lights around Kokura Castle in our city.

Decorated bridge locating in the middle of this area, called as “Ougai-bashi, has original motif of decoration, which is wisteria flower garden popular internationally in these few years.

The shopping mall near the bridge called “Riverwalk” has quality Christmas tree. Quality may be higher than Christmas trees in Tokyo Hotels. So it is perfect spot to visit this weekend.

I also heard that illumination around Kokura castle will be also kept lighting, even after New Year day. So I want people living big city to see these lights when they will come back their home city, Kitakyushu.

市内、お城周辺のイルミネーションをお勧めしています。

イルミの中心にある橋（鴎外橋）のデコレーションは近年海外でも人気となっている市内の藤の名所をモチーフに飾られたものです。

そのすぐそばの商業施設「リバーウォーク」にあるクリスマスツリーのクオリティーも高く、この週末に訪れるのに最高のスポットでしょう。そのクオリティたるや、東京の名だたるホテルのツリーよりも良く出来ています。

この一帯のイルミネーションもまた、年が明けても、しばらくの間は点灯されるそうです。お正月休みにここ郷土に帰省するみなさんには是非訪れてほしい場所です。

The things to do by this city!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

On the previous article, I introduced a sightseeing spot where active tourists from Hong Kong visited.

We have kept recommending the spot, whenever we have been asked good photo spot by our guests who were staying long in TOUKA. To tell the truth, the spot have getting more and more tourists recently. Why did it become so popular nowadays? Because an American mass media, which has been bushed by current president of U.S., has focused this spot. Yes, it is CNN.

A news was broadcasted recently that City of Nagato, where the spot located, commended CNN.

By the way, do you know the spot on the very first page in “Japan’s 34 most beautiful places” CNN has reported, including above shrine on the third page?

It is the garden in our city.

At the garden, similar phenomenon has happened like the shrine in these years.

Does our local government do anything to CNN?

これでいいのか？わが地元！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

前記事で紹介しましたが、アグレッシヴな香港人ツーリストが「灯火」日帰り観光で訪れた観光地。

これまでも長期滞在されるゲストさんに、フォトジェニックな場所を尋ねられるとオススメしている場所ですが、実はここ数年で観光客が激増している人気スポットです。その火付け役は日本のメディアではなく、なんと大統領に叩かれているアメリカのメディア CNNです。

つい先日このスポットが立地する土地の地元自治体よりCNNに対して特別表彰が送られたことがニュースで報じられていました。

ところで、このCNNが特集している“Japan’s 34 most beautiful places”、つまり「日本の最も美しい場所34選」、一頭最初にどこが紹介されているかご存知ですか？（香港人旅行者の行ったスポットは3番目です。）

最初に載っているのは、わが町にあるスポットなんです。

実際、その場所でも長門市と同じような現象が起こっているのですが、、、

当該自治体はなんにもしないのかな？
（もしかして、交通渋滞が起きる原因を作ったと苦情でも訴えたいのか？）

花の命は短くて、、！/ Flower Life is so Short that..!

Flower Life is so Short that..!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Weather in Kanmon area has been no good in two consecutive days.

Because of this weather, best time to see FUJI(wisteria) flowers seem to be over now.

Since I checked the garden two weeks ago, I’ve felt that FUJI flowers bloom very short period of time as well as SAKURA (cherry blossoms).

At the beginning, I wondered that flowers were so slow blooming.
But soon they started blooming all at once. And tremendous visitors (include tourists from foreign countries) started coming to the garden. I think that it is very difficult for foreign traveler to get pre-sale ticket to the garden.

And even if we get tickets, it may have possibility for us visiting too early or too late to the best timing. Or we cannot ride on the shuttle bus because of too many people. Or we wonder if we came to see Flower or People.

In such condition, all guests of TOUKA, who has been contacting with us earlier about going Fuji Garden, have satisfied watching the flowers.

I am thinking that we will prepare next year also for the guests who want to see best SAKURA blossoms or FUJI flowers.

花の命は短くて、、！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

火曜日に荒天、水曜日は曇天、関門エリアでは二日続いて天気がイマイチです。

そのせいもあってか、この時期期間限定の観光スポット「藤園」は一瞬にして見頃を過ぎてしまったようです。

思えば下見に行ってから二週間あまり、桜と同様に「花の命は短い」ことをあらためて実感する今日このごろです。

なかなか開花が進まないなあと思っていたら、あっという間に五分咲き、そして満開と、あれよあれよと見頃を迎え、外国人を含む大勢の観光客が押し寄せてました。整理前売り券の入手から外国人観光客にはなかなか難しかったのではなかったかと感じています。

またチケットを入手できても、来園タイミングが見頃と合わなかったり、満員でシャトルバスに乗れなかったり、入園したはいいけれど、花を見ているのか・人を見ているのかわからない状態だったりして、ザンネンな経験をされた方も少なくなかったみたいです。

そんな状況の中、ここ「灯火」に滞在されたゲストのうち、早くから「藤の花見」を相談された方々はそこそこ満足できるお花見をされたように思います。

来年も「桜」や「藤」については、綿密に状況を調べてゲストさん達に的確な訪問をアドバイス出来るようにしていこうと考えています。

今年「ベリー・ベストな日本の風景」を見れなかった方は、来年は是非とも早くから「灯火」にコネクトしてくださいね。
