Born to be WHAT?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

A friend left here for Southern Tropic Island.

“Born to Ride” “Born to be Wild”

There are many people ride on iron horses of luxury sports cars because to be cool.
Other people may ride to be wild.

I felt something else from his back.
His journey has no goal and no time limit.

“Born to be Free!”

“Born to Live (real life)!”

mako03

I want to send hearty cheers to his back who start running for free and real life.

By the way,

“Born to get money?”
“Born to be employed (taken kickback)?”

There are way to living like these and I don’t deny any styles.

Thank you and you have your only one wonderful life.

Born to be?

Born to Ride! Born to be Wild!

Born to be Free!

Born to Live (real life)!

mako03

Born to get money?
Born to be employed (taken kickback)?

On the railroad, next under the Sea!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

After arriving at last stop by trolley train,
you are at the narrowest point of Kanmon Strait.

jindo01

We can see the other side of strait, Shimonoseki very close.

Let’s walk to the other side!

Not on walking on the sea, we can walk under the sea.
Elevator brings us to 44m below sea level in one breath.

jindo02

jindo03

There is pedestrian tunnel here in Kanmon.
And it is free for pedestrians.

jindo04
(It costs 20JPY for cyclist but you have to push it, not ride.)

jindo05
Thank you and you have a nice day, in wonderland under the sea like mermaid or URASHIMA TAROU.

Super fine Japanese sweet in Winter!

Super fine Japanese sweet in Winter!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

The second Monday of January is “Seijin no Hi” (Coming-of-Age Day) holiday.  This holiday make 3-day-off for Japanese.

Monday is the day, but this city hold Coming-of-Age ceremony on Sunday, one day prior to the day. So there is no young adults in Kimono in this town, in spite of hundreds of them in other city.

Instead of the ceremony, free OSHIRUKO* party was held on Monday in the city of Kitakyushu.
(*Oshiruko is traditional winter sweet in Japan, which is bean soup and baked rice cake.) It was announced that 2,000 cups of soup are served in one day. For FREE!

The party was held in Kokura-jo (Castle) park just in front of the entrance of the castle. It is because rice cakes, used for Oshiruko, were the cut Kagami-Mochi (new year’s rice cake for display during new year week) in the castle.

I arrived at the castle 30min before the start of the event.

oshiruko01

However, there was already a line of people and approx. 200 people were in front of me.

oshiruko03

Soon, more people after me.

oshiruko05

I was in the line for a little less than an hour, and induced into the large tent covered by Japanese red and white striped curtain.

oshiruko08

Cups of Oshiruko were prepared on the table.

oshiruko09

Long time, cold wind and unexpected rain during the line made the Oshiruko extremely tasty for me.

oshiruko10

Don’t you try this super tasty Japanese Sweet Soup with me, watching beautiful Japanese castle? Sorry, no more event this year. Let us to together, next year!

Thank you and you have a nice warm and sweeeet day.
