Japanese Title (邦題)： 「街中に震撼！ 市役所は大わらわ！」末尾に

Shock around this town! City government is busy to take care!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I mentioned it in an article “closure of department store”.

According to the officer, it has been the big topic now all over this city and many people in local government are concerning very much about this issue.

To abandon the shop in front of the station and to keep the original store located near river. I wonder if their decision is right or not. Because our guest said “We went to the department store in front of the station”, not that near the river. Foreign travelers are mainly using COLET. (I may also run to internet shopping.)

Is it only me, who felt weird with the president’s smiling face of the department store and the reason of closing, he mentioned?

“Shrinking market by aging population” is the reason of closing, but most of all shops are concerning the issue in this town. The biggest player said so and more shops may make similar decision everywhere.

Can the city of Kitakyushu stop this negative spiral?

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

先週、サラッと記事にした「駅前デパートの閉鎖予告」。

実は街中で対応に困っているそうです。

市役所も寝耳に水だったようで、駅前玄関の空き家化に大わらわになっているとここに来た役所の人が教えてくれました。

駅前を捨てて、川岸を取る、、、お城に近いだけに本丸なのかもしれませんが、うちのゲストから聞くのは「駅前のデパートに行った」という話ばかり。これからさらなる拡大が予測されるインバウンド対応は本店では出来ないのに大丈夫でしょうか？（自分もさらにネット通販に走りそうです。）

ニュースで見た社長会見のふくみ笑いと、その撤退理由に不吉なものを感じたのは自分だけでしょうか？

「少子高齢化に伴って市場が縮小する」ことが閉店理由とのこと、この街においては誰もがその課題に立ち向かっているだけに、旗艦ともいえる百貨店がそう言ったことで、それに追従する商売人が芋づる式に出てくるのではないかと懸念します。

さぁ 北九州市、この負のスパイラルを止められるか？
