Local production for local consumption

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I heard that there are two “day of the ox＊ in midsummer” 2020. . The first one was July 21 and later one will be this weekend, August 2.
(*In Japan, we have our original/traditional calendar with animal title. The day is normally one day in summer.)

Could you enjoy the taste of the ox day?

It was not on the first ox day, we could also enjoy the day’s special food.

UNAGI (eel) made in Kitakyushu.

Friend of my parents gives us the local produced eel. And the taste of local one is very good.

It is my personal opinion but I think that it is a hidden speciality of this town, Kitakyushu.

We are not sure where we can buy them or how they distribute, but we want many people to try it.

地産地消

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

聞いた話では、今年2020年の夏には土用丑の日が二度あるようで、一の丑は先週7月21日、二の丑は今週末8月2日だそうです。

で、みなさん土用丑の日の味は満喫されたでしょうか？

一の丑にはすこし遅れましたが、今年も美味しくいただくことが出来ました。

それも地元、北九州産のうなぎを、、、

親の代のお付き合いがあって、地元産をいただくのですが、これがとても美味しいんです。

あくまで個人の意見ですが、ガイドブックにも地域紙にも載らない地元北九州の隠れた銘品だと思います。

一般的にはどこで入手できるのか、どのお店が北九州産を扱っているのか存じませんが、一度みんなに食べてもらいたいです。

The night sky after the rain

On Tuesday, it rained cats and dogs here in Kanmon area. The road in front of this guesthouse looked like a stream, no, like water falls.

Fortunately, rain stopped about an hour later, but we felt worry because we have seen news of severe water hazards in Japan this year.

After the rain stopped, we got strong sun light, heat and humidity. But cool and comfortable air came after the sunset.

We cannot help wishing upon the night sky after the rain that this rain is the very last rain in TSUYU 2020 and that COVID-19 infection will be over ASAP.

雨上がりの夜空に

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。

火曜日の関門エリアは土砂降り。当宿の前の道は川のように、いや 滝のように流れていました。

幸い降った時間がそれほど長くなかったので大事には至りませんでしたが、日本全国で起きている水害のことを思うとヤバいかもと不安になりました。

雨のやんだ後には、強めの陽の光が指して、一時とても蒸し暑くなりましたが、日が沈んでからは過ごしやすい空気が戻ってきました。

雨上がりの空に、これで今年の梅雨の大雨も終わること、そして新型コロナウイルスの感染も「上がる」ことを祈っていました。

注目の車 / The Car of Attention

The Car of Attention

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Last weekend, I was stuck in traffic, when I drove in town.

When I reached at the head of the traffic jam, I found one car stopped on the middle of opposite two lanes. The car was a supercar which can be seen sometimes in Tokyo, but rarely seen here.

Everybody was watching at wrecker service men tackling with low slung car under supervision of policemen. It was really cool.

Four and half years have passed since I came back to this town. I did recognize that my sense of value has been completely changed after living without too much respecting figures and money.

注目の車

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

連休中のとある日、道を走っていると、渋滞に巻き込まれました。

ようやく渋滞の先頭までくると、そこには東京ではたまに見かけるけれど、こっちに戻ってからはほとんど見かけないスーパーカーが二車線またいで止まっていました。

警察までもが見守る中、車高の低い車と格闘する姿は皆の注目の的。めちゃめちゃカッコいいなぁと羨ましく思いました。

東京からＵターンして4年半。数字やお金にとらわれない生活をしてきて、あらためて自分の価値観が大きく変わったことを実感した瞬間でした。
