Being well prepared!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Now, big and strong typhoon is moving toward Japan.

Natural disasters, such as earthquake and typhoon, are scary but it is difficult to prepare perfectly for them.

On the other hand, we have another fear of fire, as a guesthouse. However it is possible to prepare for fire.

Securing and clarifying evacuation routes is effective not only for fire but also for natural disaster.

This week, we got annual on-site inspection by the fire department of Kitakyushu city.

Of course, the result was no-problem and they proof us as a safe guesthouse with “no instructions are needed”, because we keep strong awareness of disaster prevention in daily basis.

It is our basic idea that safety/security and comfort are inextricably linked each other.

しっかりと備える！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今、大型で非常に強い台風が日本に向かっています。

地震や台風などの自然災害は怖いですが、それらに完璧に備えるのは正直難しいです。

宿泊施設にとって、自然災害と同様に怖いものに火災があります。こちらは予防が可能です。また避難経路の確保と明確化は自然災害時にも役に立ちます。

今週、北九州市消防局に立入検査を行っていただきました。

日々の防災意識の高さゆえ、結果はもちろん問題無し。「指示事項なし」とのお墨付きをいただきました。

安全・安心と快適は表裏一体というのが、当宿の基本的な考えです。

Important advise from far away!

Wednesday morning, phone started to ring when I was watching TV news and weather forecast.

As we receive guests’ reservations through internet in most cases, I guess the phone call was from the guest who want to stay the same day. However the person on the other end of the line told “Hello. This is Sato of Iwate speaking.” That voice reminds me a person of north land.

The Sato -san is one of the survivor families of the Great East Japan Earthquake for whom I had helped cleaning house through volunteer activity.

Since the first met with the family, I’ve visited to Sato -san whenever I visited Iwate for other volunteer activities and cycling through Sanriku coast to feel their recoveries.

Sato -san watched TV news who is telling “Kyushu may have tremendous volume of heavy rain, that normal rain of one month of July will fall in one day” and Sato -san couldn’t help making phone call to me to advice “Please evacuate by own decision without waiting any alerts or instructions” Sato -san were really worried about this guesthouse.

On 3.11 in 2011, big Tsunami washed whole 1st floor of Sato -san’s newly built house. So they worried about me, as if it were their own self. I felt really happy with touching their sincere/kind advice.

Fortunately, I learned the importance of “protect myself by self decision” directly through the volunteer activities and talking with actual victims in Tohoku and I got the idea into my head. So TOUKA is already well prepared for proactive evacuation without overconfidence about security.

遥かかなたからの貴重なアドバイス！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

水曜朝、ニュースと気象情報を見ていると突然電話が鳴りました。

宿泊予約はほとんどがメールなので、電話が鳴ると当日の利用問合せかと構えてしまいましたが、名乗った名前は「岩手の佐藤」さん。一瞬誰か分からず焦りましたが、一息ついて考えるとすぐに顔が浮かびました。

東日本大震災のボランティアでお宅の整理のお手伝いをした被災者の方です。

その後もボランティア活動や、復興を体感する自転車の旅などをする度に、必ずご挨拶に伺っている東北のご家族です。

ニュースで「九州の大雨は一日で７月ひと月分が降る可能性がある」と聞いて居ても立ってもいられなくなって電話をくれたようです。「警報や指示など待たずに、ご自身で判断して、早め早めに避難してくださいね」と真剣にご心配いただきました。

佐藤さんは当時新築したばかりのご自宅の一階部を津波に流されてしまった津波被災体験者。九州の状況は他人事ではないようです。この宿のことを思い出して電話いただくなど、有り難くもうれしくなりました。

幸い、自分はボランティアを通して、佐藤さんを含む被災者皆さんのお話を現地で聞き「自分の身は自分で守る」ことの大切さを頭に叩き込んだので、ゲストの安全も考慮してプロアクティブに動くための準備は万端です。

今がチャンス！/ This is a big chance for Japan!

This is a big chance for Japan!

Good morning to the World, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Kanmon!

This week, we had guests from my favorite country, Taiwan.

One of the topics we talked here was “Demonstration in Hong Kong”.

Biggest worry is that same thing may happen in Taiwan and they are already seeing one phenomenon that Hong Kong people have been moving into Taiwan. We enjoyed talking about such topics.

According to him, the biggest reason why Hong Kong people choose Taiwan for the place to move is that both Hong Kong and Taiwan has similar cultural and geographical element and Taiwan is the place for Hong Kong people easy to move into.

This may be the good opportunity for Japan too.

With seeing our guest, we know that there are not a few Hong Kong people who really like Japan. So do Taiwan people. Taiwan people are also worry about the possibility the same thing may occur in their place. In such situation, it is a great opportunity for Japan and Kitakyushu to get highly eduacated and good quality work forces, if we can be qualified as the good place to move.

It is of course that may happen if we welcome them as a good neighbor friends.

This time, the guests are the people who is worry about the future of themselves and their child. So we made them super relaxed in TOUKA.

今がチャンス！

世界中に朝が、香港や台湾にも、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

今週のゲストは大好きな台湾からいらっしゃったゲストさん。

話題は、、、日本のニュースでも話題になっている、香港のデモのこと。

明日は我が身かも、という台湾独自の事情と、、、今、実際に台湾へと移り住む香港人が少なくなくて社会問題なのだそうです。

そんな話題で盛り上がりました。香港と台湾とは文化や地理的な要素が似ていて、香港の人には移住しやすいそうなのです。

もしかしたら、これは日本にとってもチャンスかもしれません。

ゲストを見ている限り、日本が大好きという香港人は少なくないし、それは台湾人もしかり。今香港で起きていることが、台湾でもそのうちに起きるのではという不安も少なくないようです。そんな時に労働人口不足の日本が、いや、もし北九州がその受け皿（移住先）になれるとしたら、教育水準が高く、良質な労働力をゲットできる可能性は低くないと思います。

もちろん良き隣人として歓迎するということですが、、、
