I am not a person who can evaluate others, but

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I went to see the movie “Goodbye Elegy” at the theater which are one of the location of the movie.

This movie hasn’t gotten good sales record and reputation but it is worth interesting and full of findings for me. That is my impression of this movie.

However, my points of interest may be a little different from general audience of the movie.

Different (special) point:
– Same as author, the main stage is my hometown too.
– As the main character, old mother/parents living there.
– Once left from hometown, I lived in Tokyo and U.S. as author.
– I also have long experience of supporting orphans house as the partner role.
– There is a movie director in friend/classmate.

With considering such special background, my impression about the location setting of the movie is:

*Good Point:
– Taking care not to take too common places in scenes, such as Mojiko Retro area and Kokura station.

*Piteous Point:
– Most of all locations were used already in other TV dramas and movies and there is a big risk of feeling strange deja vu in watching the movie.

As I felt, my friend, classmate, OB/OG of my high school can feel similar nostalgia by every scene of this movie. It might be a good idea to watch this movie before coming back this home town to attend high school reunion. This can be a guide video of hometown rather than a movie.

Anyway, I like his straight role play of Ren Oosugi in this movie. I believe he has unfinished business as he was so talented. I pray that his soul may rest in peace.

とかく人を評価できる立場ではありませんが、、

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

名優 大杉漣の遺作「グッバイエレジー」をそのロケ地にもなった映画館で見てきました。

こちらの作品、興行成績や評論を見る限りそれほど芳しい評価は得ていないようですが、自分的にはとても興味深く・気付きも多い作品だったというのが率直な感想です。

ただ 何故興味深いかは、映画の観客として少し特殊かもしれません。

特殊な理由：
・作者同様、舞台が自分の故郷でもあること
・主人公同様、その故郷に老いた親が生活していること
・ロケ地に自分が学生だった頃、そしてＵターン後の今慣れ親しむ場所が多いこと
・一度は故郷を離れ、東京や米国に出ており、作者の気持ちがわかること
・長年児童養護施設を支えているので、相手役にも感情移入できること
・友人／クラスメイトに映画監督がいること

そうした特殊事情もあわせて、ロケ地を中心に感想を上げると、、、
（ストーリーやカメラワークについての評価は専門家に任せます。）

評価したいこと：
・門司港レトロや小倉駅などの一般的でいわゆる俗的な場所が写り込まない様に意識されていたこと。

イマイチだったこと：
・既に他の映画やドラマでも使いまわされているロケ地が多く、新鮮味がありませんでした。もう少しディープなロケ地も使用しないと、作品に変な既視感を感じるリスクがあるように思いました。

この映画、自分が興味を持てたように、故郷を離れた同級生や、高校の先輩・後輩はきっと同様の共感を持つだろうと思います。折しも同窓会などの開催される時期、こちらの映画を通して「故郷を復習」した上で、帰省してみてはいかがでしょう。大杉漣さんの人柄も出ている演技には好感を持ちました。演技派だっただけに、やり残したことや未練も多いと思います。心からご冥福をお祈りします。
