People praying toward Fire!
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Let us talk about one Tradition of Japan.
I went to a Shrine in our neighbor, bringing New Year’s decorations for happy year.
In Japan New Year’s house decorations finish their role in 7th days after new year’s day. People bring their decorations to shrine in each area.
Shinto priest put a fire on them, piled up on its front yard, with praying for everyone’s luck and burn them all.
Everyone praying toward the fire believing their bad lucks will be gone, if they can touch the smoke and the heat of the fire.
This is not a special tradition of this shrine.
This fire ceremony, called “DONDO-YAKI” has been held everywhere in Japan.
How about joining this kind of seasonal beautiful ceremony in Japan, as well as throughout a year event like Shibuya Crossing.
This is once a year event of each shrine (date is depends on the shrine), but if you are in Japan during new year period, you can see anywhere in Japan. Please find your special moment/scene. There will be DONDO-YAKI in this weekend some where shrine near you.
Thank you and you have a nice weekend, with your original once a lifetime moment.
