Do you like old port town?
Good morning to the World and Kanmon!
Several events were being operated simultaneously during 130th anniversary of Kitakyushu port in the weekend. The biggest attraction of all events was OPEN SHIP of several different big ships. So we could see quite various/many ships moored at the quay unusually.
Moored ships were:
* Training ship “Seiun Maru” of
Japan agency of Maritime Education and Training for Seafarers
* Replenishment vessel “Mashu” of
Japan Maritime Self- Defense Force
* Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger “Kaisho Maru” of
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
* Training Sail Boat “Miraie” of
Promotion of Global Human Resource Development Organization
* Customs Boat “Genki” of
Moji Customs
* Patrol Vessel “Kunisaki” of
Japan Coast Guard
All quays of this port town were filled up with those ships.
(Unfortunately, I couldn’t participate in any open ship events.)
Nowadays, functions as a port were transferred to container terminal port and passenger ferry terminal port in different locations. So we can feel old and lonely atmosphere usually and we wonder if this port is still open or not. However the port looks busy like used to be and quite different from usual condition.

P.S. Personally I prefer quiet old port of weekdays with a few ships and more local fishing people.

港町、お好きですか？
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
週末にわが町で開催された開港１３０周年の各種イベント。
一番の目玉は各種船舶の一般公開だったようで、これまで見たことないぐらいたくさんの船が岸壁に停泊していました。
ざっと上げると、、、
海技教育機構 練習船 「青雲丸」
自衛隊 補給艦 「ましゅう」
国土交通省 浚渫兼油回収船 「海翔丸」
グローバル人材育成推進機構 練習帆船 「みらいへ」
門司税関 監視艇「げんかい」
海上保安庁 巡視船 「くにさき」
昔のように港にある岸壁が船で埋まるほどの大賑わい。
（時間が取れずに、船舶公開への参加は出来ませんでしたが、、、）
今では港としての機能は別の場所にあるコンテナターミナル港や、“新”門司港と呼ばれる旅客フェリーターミナルに移っているため、普段の週日はなんとなくもの寂しくて、ほんとに開港状態なのか心配になってしまうほどの旧い港町が、この週末は見違えてしまいました。

P.S. 個人的には平日の静かな少し寂れた旧港町が好きだったりします。

we have huge tideland where we can enjoy razor fish hunting.
and we have beautiful beach of highest water quality of AA level where we can enjoy surfing.
(If we drive a little more, we can visit beautiful place like this too.)
