Because of Arctic Oscillation!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Dear our precious guests:

Recent several days, it is very cold in Japan, as I mentioned on previous articles. It will be cold next several days.

Please do not expect warm/moderate weather.

Japan is cold as well as European countries and East U.S. this year.

This is because of Arctic Oscillation,
Global level climate phenomenon.

However,

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

ゲストの皆さまへ：

ここ数日の日本はとても寒いです。そしてこれから数日も引き続き寒いそうです。

ここ九州にくるからと暖かくてマイルドな気候を期待しないほうが良さそうです。

異常気象はどうも日本だけでないようで、欧州の国々や、アメリカの東海岸でもかなり寒くなっているようです。

これは「北極振動」によるものらしく、地球規模の気象現象だそうです。

けれども、、、

おかげで「灯火」から望む夕焼けはめちゃめちゃキレイです。

Isn’t here Kyushu?!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

After driving down to south for 2days from Tokyo, I came back to TOUKA last night.

When I came into Yamaguchi, large size snow started to fall on national road #2. When I could find light of Kanmon bridge, strong and cold wind started to blow like winter storm.

Isn’t here Kyushu island, which locates south of Japan.

Here is the coldest area in whole areas, I drove this time.

On the Kanmon straits, big ferry board was steering toward Busan, Korea. It seemed to be late about one hour than their schedule.

It is unbelievable in such a heavy stormy day. I cannot help feeling sorry to the passengers in the boat.

And I cannot help praying for safe arrival of our guest, who is planning to land at the airport this morning.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

東京から陸路南下してきて、昨晩「灯火」に戻りました。

山口に入った頃から、国道2号線では大粒の雪が吹きつけ始め、
遠くに関門橋の灯りが見えた頃には、風が荒れ狂って冬の嵐の様相です。

ココって九州ですよね？

どこよりも寒いんですけどぉ！

海峡を眺めていると、、、
釜山に向かうフェリーが約一時間遅れて出向していきます。

この嵐に、マジですか？って問いかけたくなります。
乗っている乗客の皆さんには、ご愁傷様です。

天気予報を見ながら、今朝到着する予定の空の便に乗ってくるゲストが無事北九州に降り立てることを祈ってやみません。

冬の匂い / Smell of Winter

Smell of Winter

My prayers seem to have been answered and there was sunshine on Japanese Labor Thanksgiving holiday.

We thought that our guests scheduled to check-in the day can come easy with sunny weather. However it was very very windy. As the result , temperature of Kanmon area could not go up enough.

To survive such cold days, we started to use this.

A small kerosene heater!

Not like a electric air conditioner, it make us become warm from inside.

Of course, with energy save mode!

As dining room of TOUKA is not so wide, this small heater is enough warm.

Faint smell of kerosene heater is smell of winter in my memory.
I can also feel like in a mountain lodge.

冬の匂い

前日の祈りが通じて、勤労感謝の祝日は青空を望む天気になりました。

これでチェックイン予定のゲストも気持ちよく来れると思ったら、、、
風がビュービュー吹いて、結局、関門エリアの気温は上がらずじまいでした。

そんな寒い季節を乗り切るために、今週から登場しました。

「石油ストーブ」（＊ファンヒータではありません。）

エアコンとは違い、芯から温まる暖かさです。

もちろんエネルギー・セーブで！

「灯火」のダイニングは狭いのでこれでも十分温かいんです。

ほのかなストーブの匂いはまさに冬の匂い。
良く言えば山小屋の雰囲気でしょうか。
