North Face

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In winter, north wind blows so strong in this town locating on the north face (?) of local famous mountains, Kazashi mt. and Yahazu mt. 

Blizzard blew so hard with whistling sound before dawn of 25th.

But when day broke, there was no snow or ice on the steep road in front of this guesthouse.

Our anxiety has not come true, and we are relieved.

Wind was so strong that snow couldn’t stay there.

We heard that the strong cold wave caused serious damage around west asian countries.

We truly hope that there are no problem on our guests and supporters.

P.S. North face sounds good but the residents can’t stop worrying in winter.

ノースフェイス

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。

地域の名峰(?)風師山・矢筈山の北壁にあたるこの町では冬の北風が尋常ではありません。

25日未明にビュービュー音をたてながら吹き荒んでいた吹雪は、、、

一夜明けてみると、路面に着雪・凍結することなくて、

不安は不的中、ホッとしました。

あまりに風が強すぎて吹き飛んでしまったのかもしれません。

今回の寒波、西アジア各地で大きな被害を巻き起こしているようですが、

ゲストさんや支援者に被害がないことを願ってやみません。

それでは、吹雪の合間の素敵な一日を！

P.S.  ノースフェイス、北壁・北側斜面、、、響きが良くて大好きですが、冬は不安が絶えません。

吹雪の前の青空 / Blue sky just before blizzard

Blue sky just before blizzard

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

It seems that we will have snow storm here in Kanmon, locating in Japanese sea side even in Kyuryu area.

We had a good and warm weather on Tuesday because of that.

According weather forecast, blizzard will stay till new year day and we are expecting white new year day.

Because of COVID-19 pandemic, we will have new year day and eve without our guests for the first time in years.

On normal new year eve, we had stay with our guests and enjoyed countdown fireworks event together and climb up mountain to see new year sunrise with eating sweet bean soup. However both events will cancelled because of COVID-19. So white snow will erase our sad feeling of disappointment quietly.

This may be gentle consideration of our god who thinks that few people become sad with cancellations of events due to heavy snow. (We cannot go to the event with heavy snow, no matter with COVID-19.)

By the way, though we won’t have fireworks, we have been able to see an astronomical show everyday in these days.

More than a week has passed since the day of great approach and they are a little apart from each other, But we can see Jupiter and Saturn shining close each other.

If we all wish upon the stars together, the virus may disappear from this world.

吹雪の前の青空

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

九州でも日本海側にあるここ関門エリアは（日本全体も）今日これから大雪だそうです。

そのせいか？昨日の火曜日は暖かく時折青空も見える穏やかなお天気でした。

雪は年明けまで降り続く予報で、ホワイトニューイヤーに期待です。

灯火では、新型コロナの感染拡大のせいで、何年かぶりにゲストのいない年越しになりそうです。

いつもはゲストと楽しんでいた波止場での「カウントダウン花火」も、裏山で行われていた「初日の出ぜんざい会」もコロナのおかげで早々中止となっていましたが、そんな残念な気分も真っ白な雪が静かに消してくれるのではないでしょうか。

この年越しなら大雪降らせても困ったり、悲しんだりする人が少ないかも、という神様の配慮なのかもしれません。
（コロナに関係なく大雪なら、イベントにも行けないので、、、）

そうそう、この年越し、花火はありませんが、そういえばめったに見れない天体ショーが毎日上演中ですよ。

すでに大接近からは一週間以上経ったため、少し離れてしまいましたが、日没後の木星と土星とがかなり近くにあるのが見えています。

雪雲の合間に、みんなで「星に願いを」すれば、疫病も退散するかもですね。

万全！/ Well-prepared!

Well-prepared!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In this week, we had heavy rain and strong wind in Kanmon area.

Because wind blew from south, we have unusual worm days.

So we utilized this warm climate to prepare further weather hazard.

snowtire02(Yes, of course done by DIY. This is very hard if we do in cold weather.)

According to the long term forecast, it seems to be warm winter until first half of February. However this preparation is based on our motto “There is no worries if we are well-prepared.”

We make our best effort for our guests to stay here comfortable.

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。

今週の関門エリアは、豪雨、強風と続きました。

風向きが南だったため、この数日間、思いのほか暖かかった（海水浴?が楽しめるぐらい）のが幸いでした。

「灯火」では、この暖かいのを活用して、さらなる激しい気象現象に対応する準備をしました。

長期予報によると、２月上旬にかけても暖冬とのことですが、これも当宿モットーの「備えあれば憂いなし」です。

ゲストさんに快適なステイを提供できるよう、最大限の努力を惜しみません。
