Enjoying Six times as much!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

After the mid night yesterday, we have had heavy rain and that reminds us that we are still in the middle of TSUYU.

Because I posted an article about our anniversary, I skipped series articles about merit of slow traveling by car between Kanmon and Tokyo. But please let me post one more.

Lately I have tried to visit a certain kind of spot on the way to/back from Tokyo.

Castles in Japan!

I have already visited the most popular major castles in west Japan and I am trying to visit famous but not so popular castles.

This time, I visited a castle which is remembered for its associations with TAKECHIYO* in late afternoon.
(*Name in childhood of IEYASU, the big Shogun)
As I expected, there are not many people there, but onlypeople trying catch POKEMON there.
(If you are a Pokemon GO player, you should memory that castles are big hunting spots in Japan.)

“The Dual Life” which TOUKA is recommending is not Line between two Points, it is more than Planes. It is 3 demential dual life creates with the depth which is called as experience at each place. I cannot find any advantage/merits in Linear Motor Car. Because there are so many places in Japan you should stop by. Please try them before you will get too old.
(Actually, I am enjoying more, such as visiting streams with fishing rods in my hand, visiting various camp sites but I stop talking about them this time.)

６倍楽しむ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

昨晩、深夜を過ぎたあたりから、ここ関門エリアでは急に雨が激しくなりました。梅雨もまだ半ばといったところでしょうか？

開業記念日の記事を入れたために飛んでしまいましたが、関門 – 東京間を陸路でつなぐ移動のメリットについて、もうひとつだけ記事にしておきます。

ここのところ移動のたびに、かならず立ち寄っているスポットがあります。

それが、、、お城！

人気のあるお城はほぼ訪問してしまったので、現在は人気はそこそこだけど名の通ったお城を巡っています。

今回は「竹千代」ゆかりの場所を人の少ない夕方に訪問しました。
狙い通り人は少なくて、いたのは城目当てではなく、ポケモン目当ての数人でした。

Time flies like an arrow

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

Today marks our third anniversary.

However we could not hold any event to celebrate and this is the hardest anniversary ever.

As we opened this TOUKA on TAIAN day( = happy day of Japanese calendar), we had grown by small yet sure steps for first three and half years with increasing number of guests. We thanks to repeater and all guests, specially guests from neighbor countries.

But the TAIAN effect might work only 3 years and now we are in critical situation.

With getting benefit from government and subsidy from local government, we try to overcome this hardships. We have gotten cheering and support from various people. We are really encouraged by them and we do appreciate them.

光陰矢の如し

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

本日を持ちまして、当宿「灯火」は四周年を迎えることとなりました。

けれども、お祝いのイベントも開催できずに、正直これまでで一番厳しいアニバーサリーです。

４年前の大安吉日に開業したご利益もあったのか、当初から3年半は少しずつゲストも増えていました。特にリピーターゲストが増えたこと、なかでもお隣の国からのゲストが増えたことを有り難いと感じています。

ただ、そんな大安効果も三年までだったのか、現在は感染症の影響で非常に厳しい状態です。

なんとか国や自治体からの給付金・助成金などで現状を乗り切ろうと健闘中です。皆さんからの心配や励ましの声も届いていて、本当に有り難いです。それを励みに今年はなんとかこらえます。

どうぞこれからも当宿をご愛顧・ご贔屓のほどよろしくお願いします。

Enjoying five times as much!

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

When I travel around Japan by my car, my biggest concern during trip is how to keep myself clean.

Several months ago, I wrote an article about Japanese advanced highway service areas which has hot spring facility and I have often used them. This time, I will talk about some tips for travel general roads in Japan.

Basically I go into the sea almost every during car trip and I rarely get dirty and I washed salts out by freshwater before I change clothes. So bathing/shower is not necessary work specially for me, but I always visit a certain type of places for relaxation and as a hobby.

Yes, they are Japanese SENTOs (authentic Japanese public bath). Sentos are very attractive places for the person like me who was born in SHOWA era (1926-1989).

In case of small Sento in local town, they don’t have risk of sharing bath with bunch of people like popular hot spring facility in suburbs. Because most of Japanese has in-house bath and Sentos have trouble of management and lack of their successors, many Sentos are closing down every year. Conversely, current existing Sentos have somehow attractive points which fascinate their users.

Three Sentos I visited in this trip have unique and comfortable atmosphere. “Old but clean and neat” is the important point which we should learn from them. Specially there was one Sento which break my record of oldest Sento and I could enjoy real time trip there. It seems that the Sento was established in TAISHO era (1912-1926). That surprised me a lot. (By the way, the station building in my town was also built in TAISHO, I remember now.)

So, I do recommend to visit Japanese traditional Sentos, specially because you may not to be able to use it next year and you never ever be able to experience them. Please try Japanese authentic relaxing experience NOW.

五倍楽しむ！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

車を使って数日間移動すると、一番気にしなくてはならないのが「いかに清潔を保つか！」。

以前、日本の高速道路ではサービスエリアが進化して、なかには入浴施設や温泉が併設されたものがあり、そうした施設をよく利用していることを記事にしたことがありますが、今回は下道移動時のヒントに焦点を当ててみます。

基本、移動中は年中ほぼ毎日海に入るため、汚れることは少なくて、潮も着替える前に水をかぶって落とします。というわけで自分にとって入浴は不要不急な行為ですが、疲れをとるため、というよりはむしろ「趣味」で訪れるスポットがあります。

そう、銭湯です。自分のような「昭和」な人間にはたまらない魅力の場所です。

これが地方の町の小さな銭湯だと、人気の日帰り温泉のようにメチャ混み・三密のリスクもありません。今、日本中で銭湯は家湯の普及・経営難・後継者不足からどんどんとその数を減らしています。それを逆に考えると、現存している銭湯はなにかしらの魅力があるところであることは間違いありません。

今回訪れた三つの銭湯はどこも個性的でとても気持ち良い空間でした。「古くても清潔」最も見習うべきポイントです。特に今回はマイレコードを更新する歴史的な銭湯もあって、本格的なタイムトリップも味わうことができました。なんと大正時代創業らしいです。驚きです。（そういえば、わが町の駅舎も大正でしたね。）

というわけで、もしかしたら来年はもうやっていないかもしれない、二度と（一度も）入ることができなくなるかもしれない貴重な「にっぽんの気持ち良い体験」をみなさんにオススメしたいと思います。
