What day is it today(Nov.1)?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I just noticed that today is the first day of November. Because I am still feeling I am in the middle of summer, I was so shocked by knowing exact date.

By the way, do you know what day it is today, Nov.1st?

The answer is “Lighthouse Day*”! (*Effective only in Japan.)
It was decided, because Nov. 1 was the first day of groundbreaking date to construct the first western style lighthouse in Japan (at Kannonzaki in Kanazawa pref.).

We are a guesthouse standing at the foot of a little lighthouse which was built for the safe voyage of whole ships go through Kanmon strait, one of the most dangerous spot around Japan. Our lighthouse keeps watching all ships here 365 days a year, no matter day or night.

According Japan coast guard, the 7th division of them have pretty big number of lighthouses, approx. 530 out of 3,100, total number of lighthouses in Japan. As they have 11 division, 530 is a quite big number. Of course, our lighthouse is one of 530.

As of today, only 1/6 days remain in this year. Now it may be the last chance to check and adjust our position (compass bearing) and the place of our destination, at this timing of the year. (How about utilizing “Lighthouse Day” for ourselves like this? Changing your mind straighten up from party mode of Halloween.)

今日は何の日？ １１月１日

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

気がつけば、なんともう１１月！ニュースでは年越しの鏡餅用のもち米を刈り取る話題なども取り上げられていて、まだ夏真っ最中という感覚が抜けない宿主にとっては驚きでしかありません。

そんな今月初日、本日１１月１日が何の日かご存知でしょうか？（よくある日本国内限定・独自の記念日です。）

その答えは、、、「灯台の日」！
日本初の洋式灯台である観音埼灯台の起工日が１１月１日だからだそうです。

当宿「灯火」は海の難所、関門海峡の安全のために建てられた灯台（導灯）のたもとのちいさいゲストハウス。そのシンボルでもある灯台は昼夜を問わず、今も多くの船の安全航行を見守っています。

海上保安庁によれば、関門海峡を含む当エリアを担当する第七管区海上保安本部管内は日本有数の灯台の多いエリアです。全国におよそ３,１００基ある灯台のうち、およそ５３０基が七管にあるそうです。海上保安庁の管区が１１あることから考えても、七管の灯台数はかなりの数です。

今年も残すところあと１／６です。「自らが目指すところ（人物）」と「現在の位置・針路」を確認して誤差を補正するのには最後のチャンスかもしれませんね。（１１月初日の「灯台の日」、こんな風に考えてみるのはどうでしょう？ハロウィンのお祭り騒ぎから頭を切り替えて、、、）

再会・思い出 / Reunion – Memory

Reunion – Memory

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

I was watching TV casually. The program was to visit abroad to find unique recipe which has never been to Japan yet. The country the buyer visited was Bulgaria.

In that program, Bulgarian local products were introduced by her. One of them was hand-mail pottery made in a small town, “Troyan Pottery”. They have unique pattern as their character.

I looked at our dining table and find similar plate like that in the TV program.

And I remember that the plate was the gift from our guest, who is a pro cameraman traveling around the world and that he told that he bought it in Bulgaria.

Unexpectedly I remembered him who stay here more than one year ago. He was the guest from the most exciting place in Asia now. And I wonder if he is doing well under the situation, his country is in the middle of chaos.

OK, let’s send a message to him by e-mail.

再会・思い出

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

何気なくテレビを見ていました。まだ日本にない料理のレシピを海外に買い付けに行くという趣向の番組でした。そのバイヤーが訪れた国はブルガリア。

番組の途中で、ブルガリアの名産品の紹介がありました。そこで紹介されたのは、ある町で手作りで作られている焼き物「トロヤン焼き」。なんとも個性的な模様が特徴だそうです。

ふと、ダイニングに飾っている小皿を見ると、今テレビに映っていた器にそっくり。

そういえばこの皿は世界を飛び回っているカメラマンが、当宿に滞在した時にお土産としてくれたもの。たしかブルガリアで買ったものだと言っていたことを思い出しました。

ふとしたことで一年以上も前に利用していただいたゲストのことを思い出しました。彼は今アジアで一番ホットな国からのゲスト。国が揺れている中でどうしているか気になり始めました。

そうだ、メールしてみよう！

それでは、たまには思い出にひたる素敵な一日を！

It’s about myself, isn’t it?

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

In this week, there have been various things happened in this country, Japan.

We had severe natural disaster, and final tournament of Rugby World Cup is on going. But I think that the biggest event whole Japanese people got involved was “the Ceremony of Accession for new emperor”.

All Japanese people got impressed by his words, I believe.

Since that time, I have kept thinking about his words. And I find out that it is about us, Japanese people, as well as about the emperor himself. How we should act in this era, REIWA.

It is because he is “the symbol of Japanese people”.

So I think that his words should be understood by all Japanese people like this.

“As a Japanese, I pledge hereby that I shall act according to the Constitution, while always wishing for the happiness of the people (near me) and the peace of the world, turning my thoughts to the people (near me) and standing by them.

I sincerely hope that our country, through our wisdom and unceasing efforts, achieves further development and contributes to the friendship and peace of the international community and the welfare and prosperity of humankind.”

それって、自分自身のことなんだね！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

この一週間、日本では色々なことがありました。

大きな自然災害もあったし、ラグビー・ワールドカップ優勝も決勝トーナメントが開催されています。なかでも日本人がみんな関わった一大イベントが、新天皇陛下の即位「即位礼正殿の儀」ではないでしょうか？

日本国民全員が、新天皇陛下のありがたいお言葉に感銘を受けたことと思います。

陛下のお言葉を聞いてからずっと考えました。そして気付きます。天皇陛下のお言葉であると同時に「令和日本人のあるべき姿」ではないかということに。

なぜなら、天皇陛下は日本国民を「象徴」する存在だから、、、

「国民（隣人）の幸せと世界の平和を常に願い，国民（隣人）に寄り添いながら，憲法にのっとり，日本人としてのつとめを果たすことを誓います。
我々の叡智とたゆみない努力によって，我が国が一層の発展を遂げ，国際社会の友好と平和，人類の福祉と繁栄に寄与すべく努めます。」

つまり、自分たち日本人は令和という時代をこう生きるんだと。
