No longer city!

I went to our port town to do some business with walking around town.

When I walked out from the bank after business, I was called and handed a piece of paper. The news of the paper was…

The bank will be closed in coming November. (It was told as transfer to other town but)

It is the last city bank in this town and we will not have any city bank in town. The street used to have many branches of big banks in Japan.

For me, the bank has been my main bank since I graduated from school, when the bank was called as Fuji Bank. So the town without the bank is not good for me. BLM ( = Bank Location Matters )

I came back to this home town to liven up the town. However reality seems to be very tough and this town continues to decline.

都市じゃなくなる！

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

いつものように、散歩ついでに用事を済ませようと港町に出ました。

用事をすませて銀行を出ようとすると、呼び止められて一枚のチラシをいただきました。その紙に書かれていたのは、、、

この銀行がこの秋になくなってしまうということです。とうとう来る日が来てしまいました。

最後の都市銀行。これでこの町から都市銀行がなくなってしまいます。その昔は大手銀行が軒を並べていた通りです。

こちらの銀行、自分にとっても社会に出て以来、富士銀行と呼ばれていた頃からずっとメインバンクなので、その銀行のない町ってなると、ちょっとショックです。

町を盛り上げたいと戻ってきたのに、残念ながら、現実は衰退の一途をたどっているようです。

On the way back from the bank, I walked/looked around this port town.

The situation of the town 2 weeks after the lifting a state of emergency:

* 70% of shops in sightseeing area are opened, but

* 3% of tourists and couples are walking/eating in the town.

(Figures are all my personal impression/opinion compared with normal sunny weekday of last year.)

By the way,

Currently the town is good for walking, but we do hope a little more people in town.

銀行に行った帰り道、港町をグルっと見てまわりました。

緊急事態宣言が解除されて二週間目の町は、

mojikoretro20200527-05・観光エリアでは70％のお店が再開していましたが、、、

mojikoretro20200527-08・道を歩く観光客やカップルは3％ほど戻ってきた感じです。

（※ 数値は感染前の好天の平日比で、あくまでも個人的な感覚・感想です。）

ついでにいうと、

・昔ながらのアーケードはあいかわらずでした。

散歩するにはちょうど良い感じですが、もう少しだけ適度な賑やかさが戻ってきてほしいですね。

海のある風景 〜 海峡 / We have views with sea – strait

We have views with sea – strait

Good morning to the World and Kanmon!

To prevent infection, I am going out early morning and late night starting last week.

One morning, when I drove in this town, I found a big group of boats on the sea and they looked like flock of birds. One sales point of this town is that we can see the sea from everywhere in this town, if we go up a little higher place.

I have often seen this kind of view very early morning and I kept wondering what are they doing there. One fisherman taught me that they are fishing blowfish. This time of a year, blowfishes come around this strait. Blowfish is a famous seafood speciality here but it is my first time to know that they are fished such a close spot from land. Same time, he taught me that market price of fished blowfish is crushing lately. It is because high class Japanese restaurants have refrained their business because of COVID-19. Major demand of blowfish is structured by such restaurants.

COVID-19 infection affects to fishing business, doesn’t it? We do hope that normal life will come back here ASAP.

海のある風景 〜 海峡

世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。

先週あたりから感染予防のため、人の裏をかいて外出時間を早朝と夜遅くにすることが多くなりました。

ある朝、町を移動していると海の上に、鳥の群れと間違うほどの船の集まりを発見しました。この町のお気に入りは少し高いところにあがれば、どこからでも海が見えることです。

早朝この光景を見かけることが多くて気にはなっていたのですが、知り合いの海の男に聞いて分かりました。関門ならではのふく漁の船だそうです。この時期、海峡にふくが回ってくるそうです。こんなところで取れてるんですね。あわせてふくのせり値が暴落していることも聞きました。高級食材としてのふくは料亭等の営業自粛で需要が冷え込んでいるそうです。
（*このあたりではフグのことをふくということが多いです。福にもかけて）

感染の影響は漁業にまで響いているんですね。早く普通の生活に戻って欲しいです。
