About our new rice cooker we introduced in the previous article, there is another important spec made us buy it.
It is the role as cooking gear for disaster/emergent situation.
Generally there is a forgotten but important spec of kitchen ware/electric cooking gear.
It is “power dissipation.”
We found out that there is a few electric cooking gears which can be used with emergent battery we got by using the subsidy from Kitakyushu city.
Because average power capacity of emergent battery is less than 700W (ours is 500W). But popular IH rice cookers in Japan require more than 1000W. Everybody’s familiar electric kettle (like T_F_L’s) requires more than 1300W. So these cannot be used in an emergency, even if you have emergent battery system. (Please check backside of your cooking gears.)
So we decided to collect energy saving gears for both daily use and disaster/emergent case (for us to cook at least hot rice and hot miso soup.)
(We found out that our rice cooker requires 10% of electricity of our battery.)

災害非常時に温かい食事どうでしょう？
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。
おはようございます。
先の記事で紹介した炊飯器、実はもうひとつ大事な購入理由があるんです。
それは非常用調理具としての役割。
最近の傾向として、台所用品・調理家電のチラシの全面にはあまり謳われなくなった大切なスペックがあります。
それは定格消費電力（何ワット電気が必要か）。
以前記事に取り上げた北九州市から今年助成を受けて当宿に備えた非常用蓄電池を限りなく活かそうと、非常時に接続する家電を調べたところ、実は使える調理器具がほとんどないことが分かりました。
非常用蓄電池の一般的な電力容量は700W以下です（当宿のは500W）。ところが現在一般的に売られているＩＨ炊飯器の定格消費電力はどれも1000W以上、なじみ深い調理器具の代表 電気ケトル（例えばＴ◯Ｆ◯Ｌ）など、イマドキの製品は湯沸かし時間の短さをウリにするため1300Ｗオーバーです。これでは非常時・停電時に蓄電池があっても使えません。（お宅にある調理器具・家電調べてみてはいかがでしょう？）
そこで、当宿では非常時にも温かいご飯と味噌汁（またはカップ麺）を目標に、日常ユースにも耐えうる省エネ調理器具を揃え始めました。
（今回調達した炊飯器、一回の炊飯で必要なのは蓄電池の電気10％以下だと分かりました。）
