Before I knew it – while I was busy complaining about the heat – August had arrived already.
I recall posting an article a while back expressing a wish for this town to experience “over-tourism,” but…
As it turns out, there was actually one day each August when the entire town would fall into total chaos due to over-tourism.
Various preparations are currently steadily underway throughout the town to ensure that the resulting confusion does not lead to any problems.
Preparations are underway not only on this side of the strait but also on the other side.

If it weren’t for all the chaos, host might actually feel like heading out with our guests…
But we’ve never once felt the urge to do so.
Well, I suppose that’s just what it’s like living here.
In terms of crowd size, this is likely one of the biggest events in the entire region.
A total of around 18,000 fireworks will be launched from both banks – the Moji side in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Shimonoseki side in Yamaguchi Prefecture…
…and the number of spectators will likely be more than five times that figure.

オーバーツーリズムの極み
世界中に朝が、そして関門にもあさが来ました。 おはようございます。
気がつくと、、、暑い暑いといっているうちに、いつの間にか８月になっていました。
そうそう８月といえば、、、
以前、この町にもオーバーツーリズムが来てもらいたいもんだ的な記事をあげた記憶がありますが、、、
実は１年に一度だけ、オーバーツーリズムで町全体が大混乱になる日が８月にありました。
その混乱が少しでもトラブルにならないよう、今、町中で各種準備が着々と進められています。
その準備は海峡のこちら側だけでなく、対岸でも進められています。

この混乱がなければ、宿主もゲストさんと一緒に出かけようかという気にもなりますが、、、
これまで一度もそんな気になったことはありません。
まぁ、地元ってそういうもんですね。
このイベントは、この地域一帯でみても、集客規模最大級でしょう。
福岡県北九州市の門司側と山口県下関側の両岸から合計約18,000発の花火が上がるようですが、、、
おそらく見物客はその５倍以上やってくることでしょう。
